In 2020 there were over 1,400 fatal drug overdoses in Connecticut, it was the third year in a row that we exceeded the overdose death rate - which is tragic and unacceptable. I am the founder of Brian Cody’s Brothers and Sisters Foundation (BrianCodysLaw.org), a non-profit organization named in honor of my son who lost his battle against Substance Use Disorder (SUD) in August of 2019.

Behind every death is a grieving family who fights to reduce the staggering overdose rates.  Our foundation is a dedicated team of volunteers who fight against recovery impediments, the manufacturing and peddling of addictive drugs, and drug dealers who kill our loved ones.

We are asking for a donation to help our Foundation and our hometown hero, USMC Sgt. Zachary Scoular organize a 5k Run for Awareness & Recovery Festival on the New Milford (CT) Town Green, scheduled on Sunday August 29th, 2021.

​

In addition to the 5k Run, the all-day event will include family fun activities such as live musical performances and an array of children’s activities (face painters, magician, balloon twisting, etc.), as well as an art exhibit, silent auction, and merchandise. Our event will also include numerous recovery advisory stations led by subject matter experts, and several, inspirational, keynote speakers will share thoughts throughout the day.
